Organic tomato paste is perfect for seasoning a variety of dishes. The double concentration, i.e. the thick and creamy texture (not liquid), ensures a full flavour and a sufficiently strong tomato flavour for maximum enjoyment. You don’t need to add as much as liquid tomato puree to dishes to get the same flavour effect. La Bio Idea tomato paste does not contain added salt, citric acid or other additives. It is made from 100% organic tomatoes. What does ‘tomato paste’ mean? It means that the tomato has been cooked through, then the seeds and skin have been removed and reheated. Much of the water has evaporated in the process. The 22% mark indicates the concentration level, i.e. how much dry matter is in the product. Tomato paste at this concentration is very good for adding colour and consistency to dishes, for making a delicious tomato base or for enhancing the flavour of tomato sauce. It is also excellent for flavouring liquid dishes such as soups.

Tomato paste can be added:

• For Italian-style pasta and casseroles.
• For a variety of pancakes, pizzas and oven dishes.
• Into boxes.
• For homemade ketchup.
• Or eat it purely as a side dish.

A recipe for homemade tomato ketchup:

This tomato paste is ideal for preparing healthy, vinegar-free homemade ketchup.

Ingredients:

• 2 parts tomato paste
• 2 parts coconut sauce
• 1 part lemon juice
• 1 part maple syrup

Mix all ingredients together and pour into a special sauce bottle for a nice effect. Store in the refrigerator and consume within 3 days.
